You are required to have this approval if you intend to create an electrical safety management scheme (ESMS) that is intended to be implemented as an alternative to the requirements of the Act.
To be granted approval for a scheme, the applicant must prove it is equivalent to, or superior than, the specified standards / requirements in the Act. The Agency may, before approving the scheme, invite submissions from the public as to the suitability of the scheme. Conditions may also be imposed on any approval granted.
An ESMS must have an approved manager. The Agency will approve a manager if the manager has the necessary financial and technical resources to administer the scheme.
