You will need to comply with this standard if you intend to modify a heater. This code requires that heaters are not modified in a manner that is likely to increase emissions beyond the emissions level specified for each model of heater in this standard.

This standard specifies a test method for determining the particulate emission factor from batch-fed domestic solid fuel burning appliances and the associated particulate emission acceptance criteria.
