Dam Works Permit - Tasmania

Description

You will need a permit if you intend to undertake work on dams. Work practices may cover the design, construction, maintenance, surveillance and decommissioning of dams and well works, and any related matters.

As a general rule, any works in a watercourse may require a permit and should be referred to the agency.

A dam permit only allows for the construction of, or other works relating to, a dam. You may also need to apply for a water licence to store and use the water. Approval of a water licence proceeds according to the Agency's normal process. A Water Licence may be suspended / revoked in the case of a Water Supply Emergency (WSE) and may be subject to restrictions if water flow is limited at a given time.
