Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals - Cattle - Tasmania


You are required to comply with this code if you intend to keep or raise cattle. This code is intended as a guide for those responsible for the welfare and husbandry of cattle with the aim of achieving humane husbandry throughout all types of cattle enterprises.

The basic requirements for the welfare of cattle include but are not limited to:

  • water, food and air to sustain health and vitality
  • social contact with other animals
  • protection from predation
  • protection from disease
  • protection from unnecessary, unreasonable or unjustifiable pain, suffering and injury.
