Permit to Occupy a Road or Highway - Tasmania

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to occupy a road or highway to:

  • Hold or conduct an event;
  • Place anything, such as a skip bin, caravan, trailer, vending machine, customer servery or sign, on or obstructing a road or highway;
  • Open or enclose a road or part of a road;
  • Occupy or fence off part of a road;
  • Erect a hoarding or overhead protective awning; or
  • Place materials, vegetation or other objects on the road or highway.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

An application for permit is to be in writing and accompanied by:

  • A statement specifying the type of activity proposed;
  • A statement detailing the required period of the permit;
  • A scaled drawing showing location and extent of the activity;
  • Any other information the Contact Officer may reasonably require; and
  • Payment of any applicable fee.
