Plumbing Work Approval - West Tamar Council - Tasmania

Description

You will require approval if you intend to undertake plumbing work.

You will need to apply for different approvals depending on the category of risk that is relevant to your plumbing work. There are three categories of risk: low risk work, medium risk work (notifiable work) and high-risk work (permit work).

  • Repairs and the changing of fixtures and fittings are classified as low-risk work. You do not need a permit or approval for performing low risk plumbing work.
  • The Installation of new fixtures in bathrooms and kitchen renovations is classified as medium risk work (notifiable work). You will need to make an application (Notice of Work) made to the council for a Certificate of Likely Compliance.
  • High-risk work (permit work) involves commercial high-rise buildings, on-site wastewater management systems and backflow prevention devices. For high-risk work, you will need to submit an application to council for a Plumbing Permit.
