Statement on the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit - Tasmania

Description

You will be required to comply with these statement if you intend to provide a post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU) at a private healthcare facility or if you are a registered healthcare practitioner providing anaesthesia or sedation at a private healthcare facility. A PACU, or recovery unit, are areas of a healthcare facility that allow for the care and / or observation of post-anaesthesia patients.

The purpose of this statement is to:

  • assist healthcare facilities to provide PACUs that are designed, equipped, and staffed to deliver safe patient care
  • inform clinicians of ANZCA's expectations for PACUs.
