You will be required to comply with these guidelines if you work in a private hospital and provide assistance to an anaesthetist. These guidelines have been superseded by Statement on the Assistant for the Anaesthetist.
The presence of a trained assistant for the anaesthetist during the conduct of anaesthesia is a major factor to safe patient management. These guidelines establish both the practical and educational responsibilities of a competent assistant to the anaesthetist.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
