Australian Standard AS 3846-2005 The Handling and Transport of Dangerous Cargoes in Port Areas - Victoria

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to pilot a ship with explosives on board. Port managers who operate berths where explosives are unloaded may also be required to comply.

This standard sets out requirements and recommendations for the safe entry, presence, handling and transport of dangerous cargoes in port areas, including facilities, berths and operations. The regulations require the master of the vessel transporting the dangerous goods and the port master where the dangerous goods will be loaded or unloaded to comply with the strictures of this Australian Standard.

This standard may be amended periodically, and the legislation specifies that you must comply with the latest version of this standard.

Please consult the responsible agency for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
