CAN/CGSB 65.15-M88:1988 Personal Flotation Devices for Children - Victoria


This standard applies to personal flotation devices (PFDs) for children intended for constant wear to increase the safety of children in situations where a drowning hazard exists. Compliance may be required by trading and passenger vessel operators, and all occupants of the following vessels are required to ensure that any relevant children are wearing a specified PFD when appropriate:

  • Power driven vessels up to and including 4.8 metres in length
  • Off-the-beach sailing yachts
  • Personal watercraft
  • Canoes, kayaks and rowing boats
  • Pedal boats and fun boats
  • Recreational tenders.
