Certificate of Competency - Victoria


You will require this certificate if you wish to perform particular duties as the master or member of a crew of a domestic commercial vessel. The Certificate of Competency provides evidence that a person's qualifications have been verified against prescribed standards.

This certificate is required by the master, engineer or deck crew of a vessel.

Please note that an existing Certificates of Competency issued by Transport Safety Victoria prior to 1 July 2013 will be recognised and will continue on as before. However, at the revalidation or renewal of a Certificate of Competency, the holder will transition to the national certificate.
