Description

You may require this code if you intend to keep or breed dogs. The code outlines the minimum standards of accommodation, management and care appropriate to the physical and behavioural requirements of dogs. It aims to promote better dog welfare by providing education and minimum standards for dog owners.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, by complying with this code you can demonstrate that you have met your legal obligations. Providing that you have complied with this code can be used as a defence against a charge cruelty or aggravated cruelty to animals.
