Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals at Saleyards - Victoria

Description

You may comply with this code if you operate or work at a saleyard. The code provides guidance to all stock handlers involved in the management of animals of various species at saleyards. The code outlines responsibilities for truck drivers, stockmen, livestock agency staff, stock inspectors, producers, saleyard managers and their staff.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, by complying with this code you can demonstrate that you have met your legal obligations. Proving that you have complied with this code can be used as a defence against a charge of cruelty or aggravated cruelty to animals.
