Permit to Light a Fire - Victoria

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to light, allow to be lit or remain alight, a fire in the open air during a declared fire season. Burning is not allowed on land of less than 2 hectares. Additionally incinerators cannot be used at any time in Hume City Council.

This permit is not required for fires lit in a bbq or trade tool built for that purpose.

Eligibility Requirements

You must notify council of your intention to conduct burning between 2 and 24 hours before its intended commencement. You are also required to prepare a fire break around the area.

Ongoing Eligibility Requirements

A separate permit from State fire authorities may be required during high fire seasons.
