You will need to comply with this standard if you are the principal employer of a mine and intend to install and use a lighting system in an underground magazine at the mine.

You will need to ensure that any light fixtures and fittings comply with the requirements for dust excluding ignition proof enclosures as set out in this standard.

This standard specifies requirements for the design, construction and testing of electrical apparatus for use in areas where combustible dusts are or may be present, in quantities which could lead to a fire or explosion hazard.
