Australian Standard AS 1824.2-1985 Insulation Coordination - Application Guide - Western Australia

Description

You may be required to comply with this standard if you are a network operator of, or a contractor working on, an electricity network that is not legally required to have a safety management system.

This standard provides guidance on the selection of the electric strength of equipment, of surge diverters or protective gaps, and of the most suitable degree of switching overvoltage control. It is applicable to three phase alternating current electrical systems with a voltage above 1 kilovolt.

As a network operator or contractor you have a duty to carry out your activities safely. You may demonstrate that you have met this duty by complying with this standard (where relevant). If your network is legally required to have a safety management system you should instead ensure your work complies with that.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
