Australian Standard AS 3891.1 Air Navigation - Cables and their Supporting Structures - Marking and Safety Requirements - Permanent Marking of Overhead Cables for Planned Low-level Flying Operations - Western Australia

Description

You may require this standard if you are an electricity network operator and intend to

  • design
  • construct
  • commission
  • operate
  • maintain
  • decommission an electricity network involving overhead wires.

This standard sets out requirements for the permanent marking overhead cables and their supporting structures to warn aircraft pilots of the presence of the cables and structure. Please note that this standard does not cover visual warnings for pilots of aircraft involved in intentional and legal low-level operations (for example crop dusting).

Complying with this standard is not mandatory. However, if you can show that you complied with the provisions of this standard then that will be regarded as evidence that you have met your obligation to carry out electrical work safely.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required by your business.
