Australian Standard AS 4983 Gas Fuel Systems for Forklifts and Industrial Engines - Western Australia

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to operate, install or modify a forklift mobile engine that uses compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid petroleum gas (LPG).

You must ensure that your forklift mobile engine is maintained and serviced by a registered gas fitter, in accordance with this Standard.

This Standard specifies requirements for liquefied petroleum gas (LP Gas) and compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for engines mounted on industrial equipment, either for the propulsion of the equipment or for driving some auxiliary function, for example a forklift lifter or pump. It sets out requirements for the design and construction of component parts, their installation in equipment, and for tests, commissioning and periodic inspection.

This Standard applies to fixed installations, mobile and portable equipment such as forklifts, floor sweepers, polishers, tow tractors, elevating work platforms and industrial engines.
