Australian New Zealand Standard AS / NZS 61241 Electrical Apparatus for Use in the Presence of Combustible Dust - Western Australia

You will need to comply with this standard if you are the manager or employer of a mine, and you intend to install or use a fixed lighting system in an underground magazine at the mine.

You must ensure that any light fixtures and fittings comply with the requirements for dust excluding ignition proof enclosures as set out in this standard.

This standard specifies general requirements for the design, construction, testing and marking of electrical apparatus protected by any recognised safeguard technique for use in areas where combustible dust may be present in quantities that could lead to a fire or explosion hazard.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
