You will need to comply with this standard if you use lasers or laser products at a construction site. A laser is any device that can produce or amplify electromagnetic radiation in the wave length range from 100 nanometres to one millimetre by the process of controlled stimulated emission.
This does not include any electric light globe, fluorescent light tube, electric radiator used for heating, radio or video communication equipment, domestic cooking appliance using high powered lamps or navigation or search lights. A laser product is any product or assembly of components that incorporates a laser.
This standard sets out safety requirements for the use of lasers for alignment, levelling, control and survey tasks in the building and construction industry. You must ensure that any lasers or laser products at your construction site are only used in accordance with this standard.
