You will need to comply with this standard if you are designer, manufacturer, supplier, modifier or user of confined spaces. This standard is not exhaustive and should be read alongside legislation and other standards.
This standard provides requirements and guidance in eliminating or minimising the need to enter confined spaces and in avoiding hazards which may be encountered where entry to a confined space is unavoidable. Confined space means an enclosed or partially enclosed space which is not intended or designed primarily as a workplace, is at atmospheric pressure during occupancy and has restricted means for entry and exit.
This standard does not cover underground mining, tunnelling, excavation work, trenching, abrasive blasting or spray painting, or confined spaces that are not at atmospheric pressure.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
