Authorisation to Drive an On-Demand Rank or Hail Vehicle (T-Extension) - Western Australia


You must have a T-extension on your driver's licence to carry fare paying passengers and operate an on-demand rank or hail vehicle. You will also require a passenger transport vehicle authorisation. This must be applied for separately.

Eligibility requirements

For a T-extension licence, you must:

  • have held a driver's licence for a period of at least 3 years (or periods adding up to at least 3 years)
  • be at least 20 years old
  • undergo a medical assessment
  • provide a National Police Certificate no older than 3 months
  • provide 2 referees at the time of application
  • submit the required form
  • pay the required fee.
