Code of Practice - Manual Tasks - Western Australia

Description

You must comply with this code if you employ staff who will perform manual tasks.

Manual tasks include any activity requiring the use of force exerted by someone to lift, lower, push, pull, carry or otherwise move, hold or restrain a person, animal or thing. They also include any activity involving repetitive and / or forceful movements and any activity where someone has to maintain constrained or awkward postures.

The code requires you to identify manual handling hazards, assess the risks involved, and consider measures to reduce those risks. This code serves as a minimum standard and is not intended to restrict development of higher standards.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
