Code of Practice for the Transportation of Horses in Western Australia - Western Australia


You may be required to comply with this code if you intend to handle or use horses in Western Australia.

This code applies to owners, drivers, attendants and railway officials involved in the transportation of horses, including

  • waiting periods
  • loading
  • transit rest periods
  • unloading.

It establishes minimum welfare requirements for horses being transported, with the aim of minimising stress and injury caused to horses at all stages of transport operations.
