Description

You will require this licence if you intend to operate a kennel or keep more than the prescribed number of dogs on your premises. The prescribed number of dogs will differ between councils. Your premises will be inspected by the Council ranger to determine if it is suitable for the proposed purpose.

Application must be accompanied with:

  • A copy of determination on application for planning approval granting approval for an animal establishment;
  • Written evidence regarding who will have charge of the dogs which reside on the premises;
  • Written acknowledgement that the applicant has read and agrees with any code of practice relating to the keeping of dogs which has been nominated by the Shire; and
  • Any fees required.

Additional information

Please note that some councils consider a complaint lodged against any dogs on the premises a factor for licence submissions.
