Licence to Keep a Kennel Establishment - City of Stirling - Western Australia

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to operate a kennel or keep more than the prescribed number of dogs on your premises. The prescribed number of dogs will differ between councils.

Some councils will offer a separate application for keeping more than the prescribed number of dogs on your property. This application is usually for non-commercial purposes.

Your premises will be inspected by the council ranger to determine if it is suitable for the proposed purpose.

Eligibility requirements

An applicant for this licence must:

  • provide a site plan of the premises showing the location of each of the kennels and yards and all other buildings, structures and fences
  • plans and specifications of the kennel establishment
  • written evidence that either the application or another person who will have the charge of the dogs will reside on the premises or, in the opinion of the council, sufficiently close to the premises so as to control the dogs
  • a written acknowledgement that the applicant has read and agrees to comply with any code of practice relating to the keeping of dogs nominated by the council
  • the prescribed fee.
