Fauna Taking (Scientific or Other Purposes) Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to take fauna for scientific or other purposes. These purposes include education, research, conservation, art and hobby. Fauna means any animal native to Australia, and any animal that periodically migrates to and lives in Australia and includes any animal declared to be fauna by the Agency.

Your licence may specify provisions such as where, when and by what method you may take fauna, as well as how many of which species you may tag.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be sufficiently experienced and trained
  • have a satisfactory research programme
  • propose a method or means of capturing and marking fauna which is satisfactory to the Agency
  • submit any required forms
  • pay any required fee
  • comply with any additional provisions outlined by the Agency.

You may also require a banding authority under the Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme.
