Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Camels - Western Australia


You may be required to comply with this code if you intend to handle or use camels in Western Australia. This code is intended to outline minimum welfare standards to be adhered to in the husbandry of camels, with the aim of achieving humane husbandry throughout all types of camel businesses. The code covers topics including:

  • the provision of food and water
  • predation
  • protection from extreme climates
  • mustering
  • management practices
  • reproduction.
