Morgue Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to use premises as a morgue. A morgue is a place used to temporarily keep bodies of the dead for lawful purposes including viewing, examination and identification prior to before burial or cremation.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Exemptions

This licence does not include morgues in public hospitals, council or police buildings.

Eligibility requirements

An applicant for this licence must:

  • Apply in writing together with the relevant fees;
  • Include a floor plan and specifications of the morgue, ensuring that the premises meets health standards; and
  • Give notice of the application to the public.

Duration

Annual.

Expiry

Licences expire on 30 June each year.
