Permit to Construct, Establish or Modify Fish Processing Premises - Western Australia

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to construct a place or establish new plant or facilities for commercial fish processing. Please note that this permit does not authorise you to actually process the fish. This requires a separate licence.

You may not require this permit if you only intend to process fish that have been kept, bred, hatched, cultured or harvested on site in accordance with an Aquaculture Licence. You also may not require this permit if you intend to process fish to be served as meals or sold by retail to the public at the place of processing.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • Be deemed a fit and proper person;
  • Intend to process fish for a commercial purpose in or on the place;
  • Be likely to satisfy the criteria for the grant of a fish processor's licence;
  • Obtain planning approval for construction or modification from other relevant authorities;
  • Satisfy the agency that it is in the better interests of the fishing industry to grant the permit; and
  • Pay the prescribed fee.
