Registration as a Combat Sport Contestant - Western Australia

Description

You will require this registration if you intend to compete as a combat sport contestant in Western Australia.

Your registration will authorise you to participate in a particular weight division for a specific class of combat sport. Combat sport includes boxing, and any other martial art, sport or activity where the objective is to strike, kick, hit or grapple with another participant.

Registration is available in the following classes of combat sports:

  • boxing
  • kickboxing
  • muay thai
  • brazilian ju jitsu
  • full contact karate
  • mixed martial arts.

If you are registered or licensed in another State, Territory, or country, you may be taken to be registered for the purposes of participating in a contest in Western Australia.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • Have reached the minimum age for the relevant class of combat sport;
  • Be a fit and proper person;
  • Be medically and physically fit to be registered as a contestant in the relevant class;
  • Understand the duties imposed on you by the relevant regulations;
  • Provide medical information as required;
  • Complete the required forms; and
  • Pay any prescribed fee.

Registration may be available for under-age applicants. Please refer to the application form consult the Contact Officer for more information regarding eligibility requirements.

If you live in Western Australia, you must apply at least 5 days before the date of any proposed contest. If you live outside Western Australia, you must apply before the weigh-in is conducted.
