Registration of Rail Infrastructure Manager of a Private Siding - Western Australia

You will require this registration if you intend to become a rail infrastructure manager of a private siding. A private siding is defined as a siding that is owned, controlled or managed by a person other than the person who manages the adjoining rail infrastructure. A siding is a portion of railway track that branches away from the main rail infrastructure. Private sidings do not include:

  • marshalling yards
  • crossing loops

  • sidings under the management of an accredited rail infrastructure manager
  • any siding prescribed not to be a private siding as described in the national regulations.

It is not a requirement to hold an accreditation to become a manger of a private siding. Multiple private sidings may be held under the one registration.
