Approval to Designate a Transit Zone for Temporary Storage of Controlled Waste - Western Australia

Description

You will require this approval if you intend to temporarily store controlled waste prior to transport for disposal. Controlled waste refers to waste that is produced by, or as a result of:

  • an industrial or commercial activity
  • a medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, pharmaceutical or other related activity
  • activities carried out on or at a laboratory
  • an apparatus for the treatment of sewage.

Controlled waste includes sewage, chemicals, asbestos, tyres, and food processing waste.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • be of good character and have no previous convictions under these or past regulations
  • include a copy of the approval from your local council to operate as a Transit Zone
  • complete the required application form
  • pay the required fees.
