Australian New Zealand Standard AS / NZS 2299 Occupational Diving Operations - Western Australia

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you, or any of your staff or contractors intend to undertake construction diving work at your workplace. Construction diving work means any construction work in which diving is carried out using either a surface supplied breathing apparatus or self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. This includes the work carried out by the people who give direct support to the diver.

You must ensure that:

  • Everyone who carries out construction diving work is qualified in accordance with this standard;
  • All the work should be carried out in accordance with the requirements of this standard; and
  • Anybody who undertakes construction work in water uses compressed air to breath in accordance with this standard.

This standard specifies requirements for the personnel, equipment and procedures that should be used in occupational underwater operations in up to 50 metres depth of water, where compressed breathing gas is supplied either through surface-supplied breathing apparatus (SSBA) or self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA).

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required
