Australian New Zealand Standard AS / NZS 2381 Electrical Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres - Selection, Installation and Maintenance - Western Australia

Description

You may be required to comply with this standard if you are carrying out electrical work in Western Australia. You must ensure that any electrical work you do in explosive atmospheres is in compliance with this standard.

This standard provides requirements for the selection, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres used in areas where flammable materials are generated, processed, handled or stored, and which therefore are potentially hazardous.

There are four parts to this standard that you must comply with:

  • AS / NZS 2381.1:2005 Electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres - Selection, installation and maintenance - General requirements;
  • AS / NZS 2381.2:2006 Electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres - Selection, installation and maintenance - Flameproof enclosure 'd';
  • AS 2381.6-1993 Electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres - Selection, installation and maintenance - Increased safety 'e'; and
  • AS 2381.7-1989 Electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres - Selection, installation and maintenance - Intrinsic safety 'i'.
