Licence to Take and Mark Fauna for Research Purposes - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to take and mark fauna for research purposes. To mark fauna for identification includes rings, bands, tags, dyes, or other means. Fauna means any animal indigenous to Australia, and any animal that periodically migrates to and lives in Australia and includes any animal declared to be fauna by the Agency.

Your licence may specify where, when and by what method you may take fauna, as well as how many of which species you may tag. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be sufficiently experienced and trained
  • have a satisfactory research programme
  • propose a method or means of capturing and marking fauna which is satisfactory to the Agency
  • submit any required forms
  • pay any required fees.

You may also require a banding authority under the Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme. Please consult directly with the Contact Officer for further information on any eligibility requirements specific to your approval.
