Morgue Licence - Western Australia

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to use premises as a morgue. A morgue is a place used to temporarily keep bodies of the dead for lawful purposes including viewing, examination and identification prior to before burial or cremation.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Exemptions

This licence does not include morgues in public hospitals, council or police buildings.

Eligibility Requirements

An applicant for this licence must:

  • Apply in writing together with the relevant fees;
  • Include a floor plan and specifications of the morgue;
  • Give notice of the application to the public;
  • Constructed the walls of stone or brickwork;
  • Cover the walls are covered with glazed tiles or is rendered impervious so as to be non-absorbent and washable; and
  • Ensure the facility meets the City's health and safety requirements.
