require this licence if you intend to operate Omnibus - Chartered Vehicles (CV).
A CV is any vehicle used to carry passengers for hire and reward, which is not
a taxi, or a regular passenger transport vehicle.
licensed CV may:
- operate state-wide,
including off-road or in remote areas provided there is a safety
management plan in place
- have any number of seats
- charge any fares provided
they are in written form, transparent and have been calculated or agreed
in advance with the hirer prior to commencement of the journey.
differentiate from services provided by taxis, CV's are not permitted to operate
from taxi ranks, or for the purposes of hire or display signage that presents
it in a manner resembling a taxi.
licence may be issued to any type of vehicle so long as the vehicle is designed
for the principal purpose of carrying passengers and is maintained in a fit and
serviceable state. The vehicle must be able to pass a visual and mechanical
inspection on initial licensing and every twelve (12) months thereafter.
with non-standard configurations such as side-facing seats or left-hand drive vehicles
may continue to meet CV licensing criteria so long as they are deemed to be
