Radioactive Disposal Permit - Western Australia

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to dispose of radioactive substances, irradiating apparatus or prescribed electrical equipment. You must dispose of substances, apparatus or equipment in the manner and within the time specified by the Agency in the permit.

A radioactive substance is a substance, including any article that has been manufactured or subjected to any artificial treatment or process, which contains more than the maximum prescribed concentration of any radioactive element.

An irradiating apparatus is any apparatus capable of producing ionising radiation of any prescribed type, or capable of accelerating atomic particles under any prescribed conditions (such as X-ray equipment).

An electronic product is a manufactured article that produces ionising, non-ionising, electro-magnetic or particulate radiation, or any sonic, infrasonic or ultrasonic wave.
