Well Construction Licence - Western Australia

You will require this licence if you intend to construct, alter or deepen a well. A well is an opening in the ground used to obtain access to underground water. For the purposes of this licence it also includes all works associated with the well.

An artesian well is a well from which water flows (or has flowed) naturally to the surface without any pumping. A licence is required for all wells of this type. A non-artesian well is a well from which water does not flow naturally and instead is raised by pumping or some other artificial means. A licence is only required for wells of this type in certain areas determined by the Agency.
