Teacher Registration - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this registration if you intend to teach in a school. This registration is for people who have completed a teaching qualification or have the education, demonstrated abilities, experience, knowledge and skills required for professional teaching practice.

If you have your teaching qualification but have not yet taught for 180 days in an Australian or New Zealand school, you can apply for Provisional registration.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for full registration you must:

  • hold a teaching qualification
  • have the education, demonstrated abilities, experience, knowledge and skills required for professional practice
  • have oral and written English language communication requirements as set out in the regulation
  • be registered to work with vulnerable people
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, have permanent resident status or have a valid work visa allowing you to work in Australia
  • meet any additional requirements.
