You will require this licence if you intend operate as a race bookmaker. Race bookmakers take bets of money on race events on behalf of the general public. Races include thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races.
Please be aware that this licence does not include conducting a totalisator, you will require a separate licence if you intend include this in your operations.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must:
- Have your finger and palm prints taken by a police officer at a police station prior to submitting your application;
- Submit an application;
- Provide a copy of your driver's licence, passport and full birth certificate;
- Provide a security guarantee;
- Pay the application fee; and
- Submit, with your application, an authorisation to allow a police officer to make enquiries and make a report to the commission about your character and criminal record.

A race bookmaking licence is issued for a maximum period of 3 years.
Licences are renewable on 30 June of the expiring year.
You will need to submit with your application copies of your driver's licence and passports held, a copy of your full birth certificate and a copy of the race bookmaker's security guarantee.
