Accreditation of an Organisation - Australian Government

Description

You will need this accreditation if you intend to operate an institution, or company, that will conduct research into, or have dealings with, genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

GMOs are organisms, whether plants or other matter, that have had their genomes altered by humans.

The purpose of this accreditation is to allow for the assessment of your organisation's resources and internal processes to ensure you are able to oversee work with GMOs.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

For your application to be successful you must have established, or have access to, an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). IBCs are comprised of experts and people independent of your organisation, the purpose of an IBC is to oversee your operations.
