Appointment as a Trade Measurement Authority - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this approval if you intend to operate as a metrology (trade measurement) authority. Three categories of legal metrology authorities may be appointed to service the needs of the national measurement system:

  • Approving authorities for pattern approval testing;
  • Certifying authorities for the certification of measuring instruments and to certify reference materials; and
  • Verifying authorities for the verification of reference standards of measurement and utility meters.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must possess National Association of Testing Authorities accreditation, agree to comply with all guidelines and submit all the required documentation with your application.
