A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Only bona-fide research organisations may apply for this approval. Approval may be given to organisations that are undertaking scientific research into the physical or biological characteristics of the continental shelf to undertake activities related to petroleum exploration or greenhouse gas storage (including drilling stratigraphic holes, but excluding drilling petroleum exploration wells as part of that research).
Organisations undertaking scientific investigations must openly publish a full report detailing data gathered and the activities that were carried out in the title area or accessed as part of the investigation.
