NSW Visitors Game Hunting Licence - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this licence if your primary place of residence is outside Australia and you intend to hunt game and feral animals (accompanied) on private property or declared public property in NSW. Game and feral animals include, but are not limited to:

  • wild deer such as sambar and fallow
  • game birds (other than native game birds) such as California quail and pheasant
  • feral animals such as pigs, foxes and rabbits (private land only)
  • ducks under the game bird management program.

You must be accompanied at all times by a holder of a full NSW game hunting licence. For example: to hunt game animals on declared public land, you must hunt with an R-Licence holder or R-Guide licence holder.

Please be aware that if you intend to use a firearm to hunt game animals in NSW, you must first obtain a permit from the Firearms Registry. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.

  • live outside of Australia (overseas visitor)
  • pay any relevant fees
  • submit a completed application form
  • provide an accreditation form (if applying for a Restricted licence)
  • provide the Agency with all the information required to assess your eligibility for the licence.
