Approval for Commercial Filming in a National Park - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this approval if you intend to use a national park or reserve for commercial filming or photography. Commercial filming and photography is the recording of a visual image and / or sound for a market audience. For example a documentary, television or feature film, advertisement, or similar project.

Please be aware that there are restrictions on locations available for filming. The Agency will be able to advise you of any special conditions and suggest available locations for filming.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • Submit the filming or photography application form;
  • Pay the application fees; and
  • Provide a copy of your public liability cover or a certificate of currency.

Please be aware that the process for considering filming applications is based on an assessment of the potential environmental impacts the filming may have while recognising the benefits filming may bring to parks, the public and NSW in general.
