Taxidermy Licence - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to carry out taxidermy on or to hold any preserved specimen of protected fauna. This includes whole animals and any animal parts such as eggs, claws or feathers.

Fauna are animals, including any mammal, bird, reptile or amphibian. Protected fauna are animals, including any mammal, bird, reptile or amphibian that has not been listed in the Act as being unprotected. Australian native animals are generally considered to be protected.

Licences to conduct taxidermy on threatened species and birds of prey will not be issued for private purposes unless the specimen is from captive stock or is used for legitimate educational purposes.
