Any person who, for reward, patrols or guards another persons property is required to obtain a security officers licence. A security officer must carry their licence at all times whilst on duty. Licences may be subject to inspection by inspectors and members of the NT Police. Security officers must comply with the provisions of the Private Security Act and also the mandatory codes of Practice approved under this Act. Mutual Recognition exists between the other States of Australia and the ACT.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
The training standard necessary to gain a security officer licence requires the completion of prescribed units of competency from PRS03, Certificate II in Security Operations. Contact the agency for details.
