Commercial Tour Operator Licence - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to conduct commercial tour activities within a national park or reserve. Commercial tour activities are guided tours, instructional or educational courses and leisure activities that are conducted for fee or reward.

Commercial tour activities include:

  • bushwalking
  • camping
  • four-wheel driving
  • observing wildlife
  • fishing
  • rockclimbing and abseiling
  • coach and bus tours
  • boating activities
  • birdwatching.
  • bus and boat tours.

You will need separate authorisation of the relevant state if your tour also operates outside of South Australia.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • hold public liability insurance policy of at least $10 million
  • be an accredited passenger transport operator
  • have a trading / credit account with the agency
  • hold the relevant Tourism Accreditation Certificate (three and five year licences only).

You may need to meet other eligibility requirements if you are applying for a licence offered through a competitive allocation process.

You may apply for this licence as an individual, company or organisation.

Duration

Either 2 months, 1 year, 3 years or 5 years

Expiry

31 March, except for 2 month licences.
